Our mission
The sports-betting market is crowded with sites that publish rankings shaped by commercial deals rather than genuine analysis. SpoortBook exists to be an alternative: an outlet that treats readers as capable adults who want honest assessments rather than promotional copy dressed up as editorial. Our mission is to bridge the gap between casual sports fans who are new to betting and the sharper, more analytically minded bettors who want to understand how markets move, where the value is, and which operators are genuinely worth their time.
We think independent editorial is only credible if readers can verify it. That means publishing our methodology, acknowledging limitations in our analysis, being transparent about commercial relationships (see the Affiliate Disclosure page), and correcting errors promptly when they occur. We do not aim to tell you how to bet — that is always your decision. We aim to give you better inputs for that decision.
How we evaluate partners
Every sportsbook and betting exchange reviewed on SpoortBook is assessed against a consistent five-factor rubric: trust and licensing (regulatory standing, complaint history, ownership transparency), market depth and odds quality (number of sports and markets offered, typical margin relative to the market), bonus structures (welcome offers, ongoing promotions, clarity of terms and wagering requirements), payments (deposit and withdrawal methods, processing times, any fees), and user experience (interface quality, mobile performance, customer support responsiveness). Reviewers open real accounts, navigate the sign-up flow, and test the platform firsthand before any score is assigned.
Trust carries the highest weighting in our rubric. An operator can have generous bonuses and a slick interface, but if it has a pattern of disputed withdrawals, opaque licensing, or unresolved player complaints, it will not earn a recommendation from SpoortBook. Bonuses carry the lowest weighting because welcome offers change weekly, are almost always time-limited, and are rarely the deciding factor for long-term bettors. Our goal is to assess what an operator is like to use over time, not just on the day you sign up.
Editorial independence
SpoortBook earns revenue through affiliate commissions — when you click a partner link and sign up with an operator, we may receive a fee. That commercial model is what keeps the site free to read. However, our editorial team works independently from our commercial function. Reviewers and writers do not have visibility of commission rates before publishing scores or recommendations. Rankings are not adjusted, suppressed, or sold. No partner has the right to approve, alter, or remove editorial content. If an operator we have previously recommended declines in quality — due to licensing issues, withdrawal problems, or a deterioration in user experience — we update or remove the recommendation regardless of the commercial relationship.
AI and human authorship
Some articles and content pieces on SpoortBook are drafted with assistance from AI writing tools. We use these tools to accelerate research and first-draft production, particularly for high-volume content such as odds explainers and market overviews. Every article — AI-assisted or otherwise — is reviewed, edited, and signed off by a human member of our editorial team before publication. Where AI assistance has been used in drafting, we note this in the byline or article metadata. The factual claims, editorial judgements, and recommendations in any article are the responsibility of the named human editor who approved it.
Our team
SpoortBook is produced by a small editorial team with backgrounds spanning sports journalism, betting-market analysis, and digital publishing. The team covers multiple sports with a particular focus on football and US sports markets. Collectively we bring experience from the journalism side — breaking news, long-form analysis, editorial standards — and from the betting side — understanding how odds are set, what sharp action looks like, and how to interpret market movement. We do not publish personal names on this site for privacy reasons, but the editorial team is reachable via the Contact page.
Corrections and feedback
We take accuracy seriously. If you spot a factual error — a wrong odds figure, a misattributed quote, an outdated regulatory detail — please email editorial@spoortbook.example. We aim to investigate and correct errors within 48 hours of a valid report. Corrected articles are updated in place and carry an appended correction note stating what was changed and when. We do not delete articles to suppress errors; we correct them transparently. Feedback on editorial quality, suggestions for coverage, and pitches for contributed pieces can also be sent to the same address.
